A Question I have, in need of the opinions of others.

If famulous and guardians are bound to us, to do favors for us, and to guard us, do they have things they want for us to do for them? If not, why do they help us?
I give mine offerings, and have been curious, but mine haven't said.  Anyone got an opinion?

I think it can depend. Familiars I view very much like friends who you work with....and much like your other friends, sometimes they want you to do stuff for them, and sometimes they just want to hang out with you.

I feel that guardians often have their own reasons for protecting us. Sometimes it has nothing to do with us personally, and sometimes it does. I watch out for my son out of love, the faculty of his school watch out for him out of obligation....but we both essentially guard him at different times.

I think it is right and proper to give thanks and offerings in return for services, whether you requested them or not. I don't follow a strict 'this for that' type of belief on it, but rather that in general, if someone does things for me, I try to return the favor. Sometimes this is as simple as an acknowledgment of the service rendered and an expression of gratitude for it...good deeds are their own reward, but everyone likes to feel appreciated.
